For over 30 years, the Disney General Entertainment Content (DGE) Writing Program has been lauded as one of the most successful writing programs in the entertainment industry. The program has launched the careers of many writers, including: Peter Saji (Mixed-ish); Zahir McGhee (Queens); Raamla Mohammed (Little Fires Everywhere); Jane Espenson (Once Upon a Time); Saladin K. Patterson (The Wonder Years, Dave); Bryan Oh (Chicago Fire); George Mastras (Breaking Bad) and Veena Sud (The Killing).

The DGE Writing Program is a highly selective, annual TV staffing program. The goal is to staff emerging and diverse television writers on DGE scripted series. Program Writers are contract employees of Disney for one year, or until they staff on a show, and receive mentorship, professional development, and unprecedented access to the company and its creative executives, producers, showrunners, and program alumni. One writer will receive the Eunetta T. Boone Comedy Writers Scholarship and special staffing consideration on a Disney Branded Television series.
